Needlelace Group – coronation cord
Our topic for this meeting is Coronation Cord. We will be trying a needlelace edging incorporating the Coronation Cord.
It comes in many colours and a few different sizes.
Often available on Etsy etc. Probably no longer made but there does seem to be some stock around, you just have to sniff it out.
Annette will bring a few examples from her collection of how it was used both as a trimming and edging and sometimes sewn flat to embellish a tablecloth etc. She also has a book of patterns.
It was often worked with crochet.
Annette has a few metres of edging with crochet, which you can undo and resuse. It is is an off-white or cream colour. Note: You will need to undo the crochet first to release the coronation cord.
Bring a small item you would like to add an edging to or a piece of linen to play on. Also perle 12 thread in cream. Bring a crochet hook if you prefer to try the crochet style. Matching or cream thread if you want to try the couching style.
All are welcome.
