In the first hour of this session, we will be making 3 small book samples to learn 3 different/ introductory ways to bind books. All supplies for these samples will be provided. For the second part of the session, we will be looking at various options for you to bind the covers and pages that you have brought with you. For this part of the session, please bring:

• A set of ‘covers’ suited to your pages – paper, card stock, felt, doilies, fabric
• A selection of ‘pages’ that match or are slightly smaller than the covers you have brought and made from your chosen materials – paper (watercolour, textured or collaged, etc), felt, fabric pages that may include ‘blank pages’ or pages with samples of printing, embellishments, embroidery, etc on them.
• Binding threads such as sewing threads, buttonhole thread, waxed linen thread, perle thread, narrow ribbon, etc. Some binding devises will also be available, if they are suitable for your book such as small hinged rings.
• A needle that can be threaded with your chosen binding thread.

Please bring any of the following (if you have them) as they may be useful for any of the binding activities:

• Paper and fabric scissors
• An awl or a push pin or a darning needle
• A hole punch – preferably one that can make small holes
• A bone folder (which can also be made from plastic) or a blunt knife or a fine knitting needle
• Ruler, pencil eraser
