School Holidays Program

Classes are held on selected days of school holidays (not over the summer break). There are two sessions: 9am till 12.30 and 1.30 till 5pm. Children may attend the whole day but will need to bring lunch and morning/afternoon tea.

The holiday classes planned for 2023 are:

  • 18/19 April
  • 4/5 July
  • 26/27 September (cancelled due to fire in the building)

Classes are for school age children of 7 years and upwards. All skill groups are catered for: children who have never used a needle, those who can use a needle a little bit, and those who want to learn more complicated embroidery stitches. Classes are open to both girls and boys.

Young Stitchers activities

There are fun projects graded by level of ability from the child who has never stitched before to the advanced stitchers and all the levels in between. Members of the guild provide guidance and help to the young enthusiasts.

It’s wonderful to see the energy and creativity they bring to learning to stitch. Watching their confidence grow with each new project they take on is a real treat.

Young Stitchers and the School Holiday Program are held in the Guild’s premises at Maitland House at 100 Maitland St, Hackett.
