AIM: To encourage participants to undertake a contemporary approach to working on a traditional painted cross stitch
canvas/tapestry.
To utilise your existing knowledge and explore different approaches to utilising a cross-stitch tapestry.

PREPARATION:
1. Photocopy your tapestry or a section of it for adding ideas after group discussion.
2. Consider whether you will work on using the existing design OR
3. Consider overlaying a thematic design over the existing design OR
4. Consider a combination of 2 and 3.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Notebook and photocopy
• Stitch dictionary
• Tapestry from Recycling Table
• Embellishments – silk paper, painted vliesofix, Angelina fibres, sheers (plain or ruched}, felt, found objects, buttons, cords of any type, etc.
• Thread types and colours to suit your preliminary thoughts and ideas, eg wool, ribbons, textured yarns, metallics, machine embroidery threads (use 3 to 5 strands together)
• Stitch type ideas to trial that will contrast, provide texture and effect eg tufted stitches, couching with different embroidery stitches, needle weaving.
